You will not find these ingredients in our formulas
We have worked very hard to exclude ALL of the ingredients listed below. While some of them are healthy, most are inexpensive fillers that offer little nutritional value but allow for more profit.
** In effort to offer a Grain Free, Poultry Free balanced diet, Herding Dog and Sled Dog contain Dried Potato (18%) as contributing carbohydrate.
Who is our primary customer?
Families who enjoy an active lifestyle - with their pets.
... and those who are not interested in any of the above but understands that feeding sporting dog enthusiasts is our #1 goal.
We know our Sporting & Working groups want
How have our new formulas improved?
Our new formulas contain nearly 90% protein from low ash animal protein. This is 15% more Animal Protein than our original Elite Formulas (that means even fewer fillers). Other formulas on the market today, from reputable brands, average anywhere between 65%-75% animal protein.
More noticeable upgrades include the use of Zinpro Availa Pet Performance Minerals and Diamond V Probiotics.
These improvements are important to our loyal sporting & working dog customers.
How have our new formulas improved?
We can all agree there are plenty of excellent brands available. We believe you can identify some clear differences by looking a little closer at the ingredients - not just some but all of the ingredients.
Lets take a closer look. You might find great options that work well for your dog if you are trying to eliminate one ingredient like White Potato or Flax, but in our research we found it much more difficult to find a brand that excludes both White Potato and Flax. Options become even more limited if you are looking to eliminate 3 ingredients like White Potato, Flax, and Peas. While you might get lucky enough to find that Unicorn, we challenge you to look even deeper ... you might quickly identify Alfalfa, Lentils, Beet Pulp or Brewers.
If you want to know the difference between Sport Dog Food and others ... we suggest looking even closer.

Why is our Ca:P higher than 1.3:1?
Special note on Poultry
Chicken fat contains virtually no protein, therefore, it's use should not cause allergic reactions similar to those associated with fresh chicken or chicken meal, both of which contain high amounts of protein.
We researched 15+ brands and discovered that ALL of their Fish or Beef based formulas (aka "Poultry Free") contained one of the following ingredients: Canola Oil, Chicken Fat, Duck Fat, Whole Egg, Herring Oil, Pork Fat, Sunflower Oil. If you know of a zero-poultry option, that meets ALL of your standards without compromise, please check it against ours too. We are open-minded to all proactive solutions.
For those looking for Poultry free options, please look at our Buffalo Recipes. Herding Dog*, Sled Dog*, Tracking Dog and Dock Dog.

Special note on Rosemary Extract
We will be using the natural preservative called Verdilox made by Kemim. We chose Verdilox as preservative because it does not use Citric Acid. It does contain trace amounts of Rosemary Extract.
Like you, we have reviewed how other reputable manufacturers list their antioxidants and it appears that listing "Mixed Tocopherols" might be enough to meet AAFCO requirements. We even contacted some brands, as an individual via web chat, and asked if their formulas included Rosemary and if so, "why is it not listed on your bag". Here are a few common responses we received "Due to labeling regulations we do have to list it as a "mixed tocopherols" on our ingredient panel. This is because we do not use it as a separate herbal supplement, but rather a preservative."
We are continuing to learn more and will update you as we discover more information on this topic. In the meantime, Naturox is the most widely used antioxidant in the pet market today, therefore it is important to inquire with the manufacturer specifically about Rosemary Extract and Citric Acid.
